about
Modern Guilt return in style with epic new single ‘How To Buy Happiness’ released digitally on Friday 11 November 2022.
Championed by the likes of Steve Lamacq (BBC 6Music), John Kennedy (Radio X), Jess Iszatt (BBC Introducing London) and Shell Zenner (Amazing Radio), the London based outfit “are re-igniting and modernising their era and genre influences in a strong flame of colour” (Listen To Discover).
Produced by Mikey Buckley, ‘How To Buy Happiness’ is like a western, a fruitless saga of despair and longing. It’s the story of a man convinced that if he had enough money, he would be happy, and how he chases that belief. Musically, the track paints a refreshing soundtrack of Americana crossed with Garage Rock.
The new single is accompanied by this brand new video shot by acclaimed film maker Ross Scott, capturing the band’s first performance video in a style and character that nods to Spaghetti Western classics and the Coen brothers’ ‘No Country For Old Men’.
‘How To Buy Happiness’ will be released digitally on Friday 11 November, with a special single launch show taking place at The Old Blue Last, East London on Thursday 10 November.
“Never doubt this band’s ability to craft music that sticks to your ear canals like glue” (Clunk Magazine).

lyrics
Buy a bit of good time and go to Mexico
Chewing on a whole lime you’ve got a ways to go
Break a bag of hours over your head
And make fun of the cowards who go to bed, who go to bed
Put fistfuls of money in your mouth
And lick the hotel walls in the Vegas drought
Wring the water from your lips
Watch the blackout lean in for a kiss
If I had the money
Oh yeah I’d be fine
Listen to me honey
I’d pay anything to feel alright
Give me your all your money honey and I’ll be fine
Kind of in a hurry lately to be on time
And I have been up all night
He ironed out his old shirt
And weight you with his left
Washed his face with gold dirt
And said he hadn’t slept
He said
If I had the money
Oh yeah I’d be fine
Listen to me honey
I’d pay anything to feel alright
Give me all your money honey and I’ll be fine
Kind of in a hurry lately to be on time
And I have been up all night
Chewing on a whole lime
You’ve got a ways to go
So put fistfuls of money in your mouth
And lick the hotel walls in the Vegas drought
If I had the money
Oh yeah I’d be fine
Listen to me honey
I’d pay anything to feel alright
Give me your all your money honey and I’ll be fine
Kind of in a hurry lately to be on time
And I have been up all night
